About the Role

Elk Creek Animal Hospital of Hikes Point is hiring a Licensed/Registered Veterinary Technician

  • Role: LVT, CVT, RVT
  • Status: Full-time
  • Salary: Negotiable and based on experience and licensure
  • Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 7:30am-5:30pm Closed Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday

Our Hikes Point location is one of Elk Creek Animal Hospital's three locations providing candidates the opportunity to explore our other locations if interested and an opportunity for additional hours if desired. Some of the job duties involved in this opportunity include:

  • Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
  • Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, fluid therapy, and sample collection
  • Run in-house laboratory testing (CBC/chemistry, urinalysis, cytology, fecals, etc.)
  • Support surgical and dental procedures (prep, monitoring, recovery, instrument care)
  • Monitor anesthesia and patient vitals during procedures
  • Provide post-operative care and monitor recovery of patients
  • Maintain cleanliness and sterility of surgical instruments and equipment
  • Educate and communicate with clients on patient care, medications, discharge instructions, and preventative care
  • Accurately document patient care and treatments in the medical record
  • Collaborate with the team to maintain an efficient workflow and positive hospital culture

 

Our ideal candidate has experience in the following areas:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Technician or equivalent education/training
  • Proficient in animal handling, and animal restraint techniques
  • Experience with animal catheterization and administering medications
  • Familiarity with veterinary software systems for record-keeping
