Role: Veterinary Assistant
Status: Full-time
Salary: $19.00–$24.00 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Monday through Friday; 4 days per week; no nights or holidays

At Pioneer Animal Hospital, an AAHA-accredited practice serving Oregon City since 1979, we’re proud of the medicine we practice—and just as proud of the team that makes it happen. Our three-doctor canine and feline hospital offers a wide variety of cases, including dentistry, surgery, urgent care, reproduction, and preventative medicine.

What You’ll Do

  • Triage patients and obtain thorough histories, vitals, and patient assessments
  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and procedures
  • Provide compassionate nursing care from intake through discharge
  • Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
  • Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, fluid therapy, and sample collection
  • Run in-house laboratory testing, including CBCs, chemistry panels, urinalysis, cytology, and fecal testing
  • Accurately document patient care and treatments in medical records
  • Support surgical, dental, and urgent care procedures
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities

What Our Veterinary Assistants Bring

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent Veterinary Assistant experience
  • Safe and effective patient handling and restraint skills
  • Knowledge of preventative care and vaccine protocols
  • Strong patient handling skills with a focus on low-stress or Fear Free techniques
  • Clear, compassionate communication with clients and team members
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative, team-first mindset and willingness to jump in where needed
  • Commitment to providing exceptional patient care and client service
