Position Details

  • Role: Large Animal Veterinary Assistant
  • Status: Full-time
  • Salary: Negotiable and based on experience
  • Schedule: Four-day workweeks with rotating Saturdays

Kiel Veterinary Clinic is seeking a motivated and dependable Large Animal Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This position involves working closely with veterinarians to provide high-quality care to livestock and other large animals. The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, is comfortable around horses and livestock, and thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous veterinary clinic experience
  • Knowledge of livestock health and husbandry
  • Basic understanding of veterinary terminology

What You’ll Do

  • Assist veterinarians during farm calls and in-clinic procedures
  • Safely handle and restrain large animals, including cattle, horses, sheep, and goats
  • Prepare and maintain veterinary equipment and supplies
  • Clean and disinfect instruments, work areas, and vehicles
  • Support routine procedures such as vaccinations, blood draws, and treatments
  • Maintain accurate medical records and treatment logs
  • Assist with loading/unloading animals when necessary
  • Provide excellent communication and support to clients

Work Environment

  • Combination of on-farm visits and clinic work
  • Exposure to large animals, outdoor environments, and varying weather conditions
  • Some early mornings, evenings, or weekend work may be required, depending on patient needs
