Must Love Dogs. Must Appreciate Cattitude.
Is your dating profile tagline “Must Love Dogs,” but you secretly believe cats run the world? Same.
If you love it all—from puppy kisses to kitty headbutts—Merrifield Animal Hospital might be your people.
We’re looking for a Part-Time Veterinary Assistant who brings compassion, strong technical skills, and a team-first attitude to patient care. Around here, remarkable results happen because people help each other, communicate openly, and genuinely appreciate the humans working beside them.
We believe in a “better together” culture where wins are shared, challenges aren’t faced alone, and being yourself isn’t just allowed—it’s encouraged.
Why Our Veterinary Assistants Love It Here
What Our Veterinary Assistants Do
As a Veterinary Assistant, you’ll work alongside our veterinarians and veterinary team to provide compassionate, high-quality care from intake through discharge. You’ll:
What You’ll Bring

The Extras You’ll Actually Feel
At Merrifield Animal Hospital, truly appreciating each other is more than something written on a motivational poster. We believe people do their best work when they’re supported, respected, and comfortable bringing their authentic selves to work.
That means leaders who listen, teammates who help each other, and a culture that makes time to celebrate birthdays, new babies, anniversaries, milestones, and everyday wins.
Your schedule matters, too. With 2–3 day workweeks, rotating Saturdays, no nights, no on-call shifts, no holiday hours, and regular lunch breaks, you’ll have more room for life outside the hospital.
You’ll also have opportunities to use your veterinary skills to make a difference in your community, along with mentoring and support as you advance your career. After all, the more you know, the better off we all are.
And because good teams deserve a little fun, don’t be surprised by the occasional coffee run, ice cream party, or meal on us.

I would highly recommend anyone to work for a Vetcor clinic because of all the available resources they offer to their employees! These resources vary from continuing education to the importance of mental health and not burning out. Stonebridge has been one of the best places I have worked and has done nothing but help me pursue my goal of becoming an LVT.

There are programs including VetLife Days and Lend-a-Hand that allow you to spend time at other clinics. I have met some wonderful colleagues this way and have also been able to expand my leadership skills within Vetcor. I actually learned that I love teaching and supporting other veterinarians, especially new graduates. I love soft tissue surgery, so to be able to pass on that knowledge and skill set to new grads, giving them the confidence and skills they need to excel, has been very rewarding. It has been an amazing journey with Vetcor so far and I am excited to continue to be part of this amazing group.

The mentorship and advice from the Vetcor Chief of Staff Advisors have helped me become a better veterinarian and surgeon. They have filled me with confidence in order to become a better leader. Vetcor has been a great corporation to work for.

There is a career path for everybody and not a one size fits all approach.

Join a group of motivated veterinary professionals while taking advantage of employee programs, resources, and fantastic benefits. Join one of our many collaboration groups for Hospital Managers, Techs, and Vets! Plus, we love supporting growth in your teams' desired career paths.
