About the Role

Highland Knolls Veterinary Hospital has been part of the Katy/West Houston community for over 26 years. We are a free-standing, paper-lite, small animal practice with a strong reputation for going above and beyond in our diagnostic and treatment capabilities. Specialists in the area know us for our thoroughness. We’re looking for a full-time Veterinarian who values quality over quantity, wants to be part of a collaborative, transparent, and experienced team, and is excited to grow their skills. We tailor schedules and CE opportunities to the individual DVM’s needs, whether that’s more surgical experience, longer appointment times, or additional mentorship.
 
We are proud to offer a high level of individualized care with the tools to back it up, including:
  • 4 exam rooms + 1 surgical suite
  • Dedicated x-ray and large treatment area with ultrasound
  • Full in-house Idexx lab suite
  • Sevoflo anesthesia, electro-cautery, and ultrasound (with WAVE-certified DVM on staff)
  • 99% small animal (dogs/cats), occasional exotic (local pet store rabbit/lizard - you don't have to see exotics unless you like to)
  • Customized approach to scheduling with 15-30 min appointments, and buffer slots built in
Our practice is currently staffed with 2–3 vet assistants per DVM. Our goal is to build 1 DVM + 1 LVT + 1 VA teams as we grow. We're on the list for a full remodel in 2025—so exciting changes are coming!
Schedule & Work-Life Balance:
  • 4-day work week + rotating Saturdays
  • 7:30am – 5:30pm (with 1.5-hour dedicated lunch/callback/record time)
  • Minimal “on-call” – occasional check-ins for hospitalized patients or pet store partners on weekends (aligned with your Saturday shifts)
  • Rotating weekday off (typically every 4 weeks)
Community & Culture:
We're active sponsors of local events like the Lone Star Safety Fest—the nation’s largest free public safety and education event. We also maintain a unique and rewarding relationship with a local pet store. Beyond that, we focus on our patients and see about 15–20 appointments per day.
