Veterinary Technician Week is an opportunity to recognize the veterinary technicians and assistants whose compassion, expertise, and dedication make a difference in the lives of pets, clients, and veterinary teams every day. Throughout Vet Tech Week 2026, team members across Vetcor came together to share stories, photos, memorable cases, career journeys, and the unique talents that make this profession so rewarding.
This year's celebration was made even more special through our partnership with Zoetis on the Tech Recognition Grant, now in its third year. A total of 60 certified technicians (CVT/LVT/RVTs) were randomly selected to receive a one-time $2,000 recognition grant!
Techs shared what life in veterinary medicine looks like behind the scenes. Their stories highlighted the many qualities that define veterinary technicians and assistants, including resilience, humor, technical expertise, compassion, and a deep commitment to animal care.
We invited techs and assistants to answer the question: "Say you're a vet tech without saying you're a vet tech." Responses captured the realities of veterinary medicine, from navigating "spicy cat" appointments to finding joy in the unpredictable moments that come with caring for animals.

We asked veterinary technicians and assistants to reflect on what inspired them to pursue this career.
The responses revealed a common theme: a passion for helping animals and a desire to make a meaningful impact. Team members shared stories of beloved childhood pets, career changes that led them to veterinary medicine, and the fulfillment that comes from advocating for animals who cannot speak for themselves.

“Growing up, I had a love for animals, and I always tried to help the injured wildlife that my cats hunted. But later in life, I chose a different career path as an automotive mechanic until I finally decided that if I'm going to invest in going to college, what would I love doing for the rest of my life. I decided to go back to what I loved helping the most, which were animals. So, a Veterinary Technician became.” - Angela
“I wanted to work in vet med because I knew I had more to offer. I worked customer service jobs for the longest time but I was never happy. One day I decided I need to stop working for money. I need to do something I will love and thrive in. I found Uniquely Cats and my life was forever changed. I am so thankful that I made the change because becoming a vet tech is the most meaningful job I have ever had and each day I am taking care of kitties who need me. I'm happy and I am blessed every day.” - Casey
These stories served as a powerful reminder that veterinary medicine is more than a profession. For many, it is a calling rooted in compassion, service, and lifelong learning.
Veterinary medicine brings new challenges and learning opportunities every day, and participants shared several remarkable cases during the week.

From unusual medical discoveries to wildlife experiences and complex recoveries, these stories demonstrated the knowledge, adaptability, and problem-solving skills veterinary teams rely on every day. They also highlighted one of the most rewarding aspects of veterinary medicine: no two patients and no two days are ever exactly alike.
To close out Vet Tech Week, we asked team members to share their veterinary "superpowers."
The responses showcased the diverse talents that help teams succeed, including anesthesia and surgical expertise, grooming and patient care skills, client communication, and countless other abilities that contribute to exceptional care.

Every veterinary technician and assistant brings unique strengths to their hospital, and these stories highlighted the many ways they help patients, support clients, and strengthen their teams.
This year's Vet Tech Week celebration was filled with laughter, learning, inspiration, and appreciation. Through photos, and personal stories, veterinary technicians and assistants shared what makes this profession so meaningful and why their work matters.
