Tech Week Recap

Tech Week Recap
Honoring our incredible techs during National Veterinary Technician Week, thank you for your dedication and compassion!

October 28, 2025

Across veterinary hospitals nationwide, National Veterinary Technician Week 2025 was a time to honor the compassionate professionals who are essential to animal care. While appreciation for veterinary technicians is a daily practice, this dedicated week offered a meaningful opportunity to spotlight their tireless efforts, technical expertise, and unwavering commitment to both pets and their people. This year the theme chosen by the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA) was “Paths to Success: Shining a Light on Credentialed Veterinary Technician Stars”, which recognized the diverse career paths of certified technicians and the mentors who guide them.

The Impact of Veterinary Technicians

A veterinary technician is a key part of any animal care team, working side-by-side with veterinarians to help keep pets healthy and happy. To get into this field, most people complete either a two-year associate degree or a four-year bachelor's program that's accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). These programs mix classroom learning with hands-on clinical experience.

In an animal hospital, vet techs do a little bit of everything, from checking vital signs and collecting lab samples to giving medications and vaccines, assisting in surgery, monitoring anesthesia, and even helping pet owners understand how to care for their animals. Their day-to-day work includes things like patient intake, running diagnostic tests, keeping medical records organized, and above all, making sure every animal gets compassionate, top-notch care.

Vetcor Support for Technicians

We’re proud to support veterinary technicians with meaningful benefits that help them grow in their careers. Whether you're working toward becoming licensed or already certified, we offer financial support for education and professional development, including tuition assistance, continuing education funds, and grant opportunities. In partnership with Zoetis, we awarded 60 of our technicians a one-time $2,000 grant, selected at random from over 1,000 applicants, in recognition of their incredible dedication to their education, their hospitals, and the pets and clients they care for. In addition, Vetcor University offers free continuing education courses specifically for technicians, making it easier to access high-quality learning.
