Living Our Values: Dr. Luke Martin’s Vetcor Story

From his roots on a rural cattle farm to his leadership role today, Dr. Martin’s journey reflects what is possible when talent is matched with mentorship, opportunity, and genuine support. 

From Farm Life to Finding His Calling 

Growing up on a cattle farm, animals were part of Dr. Martin’s everyday life. As his interest in science grew, veterinary medicine became a natural way to combine curiosity, compassion, and impact. 

“I’ve loved veterinary medicine and how it has allowed me to make a positive impact on the lives of my patients and my clients alike,” he shares. 

That sense of purpose has only expanded since his clinic joined Vetcor in 2018. 

Better Medicine, Together 

One of the biggest shifts Dr. Martin experienced after joining Vetcor was access to peers, perspectives, and collaboration across the country. 

“Since joining Vetcor, I’ve enjoyed collaborating with peers from around the country,” he says. “It’s made me a better veterinarian.” 

That collaboration recently took on a new dimension when Dr. Martin stepped into a Chief of Staff Advisor role, allowing him to contribute beyond his own clinic.

“This role has given me the opportunity to make a positive impact beyond my community,” he explains. “That’s something I’m genuinely excited about.”

For Dr. Martin, support was not something he discovered later. It started before his clinic officially became part of Vetcor. 

Facing uncertainty about joining a larger organization, he was connected with Dr. Chad Harris, Vice President Veterinary Leadership and Career Development, who took the time to listen, answer questions, and be transparent. 

“That conversation is what led me to making what I now know was an excellent decision,” Dr. Martin says. Nearly a decade later, he reflects that the promises made then have held true. 

“It’s great to work for an organization whose leadership truly has the best interests of their people at the forefront.”

Veterinary medicine is constantly evolving, and Dr. Martin believes continued learning should feel encouraged, not just permitted.
