In rural Michigan, a powerful movement in animal welfare is taking shape through Hope’s Reach Equine Rescue, founded by Vector team members Lisa Czarnik and her daughter Lakin Turner. The small, family-run organization has an outsized impact, providing compassionate euthanasia assistance for horses whose owners face heartbreaking decisions. Created to offer a humane path where too many equines are left without one, Hope’s Reach ensures dignity, empathy, and care at the end of a horse’s life.
The rescue’s work is deeply personal. In 2019, the founders stepped in to save an elderly Amish Percheron mare named Beatrix from a kill pen. Though her time with them lasted only three months, those months were filled with dignity, comfort, and love—things she had been denied for far too long. Her passing became the spark that ignited a mission: to ensure that no horse’s final chapter is written in fear or neglect.
Today, Hope’s Reach honors Beatrix by helping equine families keep their companions at home, surrounded by the people who love them most. It’s a service that blends emotional support, humane care, and a deep respect for the human–animal bond.
Run by a mother–daughter team who also work together at Willowood Acres Veterinary Clinic, Hope’s Reach bridges rescue work and veterinary care. That shared professional background strengthens their approach, creating a trusted network of support for horse owners and extending the rescue’s impact far beyond their barn doors.
Through compassion, expertise, and an unwavering commitment to dignity, Hope’s Reach Equine Rescue is quietly redefining what humane care looks like at the end of a horse’s life. What began with one mare’s story has grown into a lifeline for families facing impossible choices, proving that even in goodbye, there can be comfort, respect, and love.
Lisa and Lakin’s work is a beautiful reflection of our shared values: putting people and their pets first, even in the most difficult moments. We are incredibly proud to have team members like them who extend Vetcor’s values into the heart of their local community.
