Thankful Thursday: Celebrating Growth, Support, and Extraordinary Teamwork

At Vetcor, we're grateful for our team members who help others grow, lend a hand when support is needed, and show exceptional care and dedication to both their teammates and patients. This month's Thankful Thursday recognizes people whose dedication, leadership, and compassion are making a lasting impact across our hospitals. 

Celebrating Six Years of Growth and Leadership 

At Spicewood Veterinary Clinic, Amy Robinson, Hospital Manager, recognized Lead Technician Brianna Pounds for reaching an important milestone and for the remarkable growth she's demonstrated throughout her career. 

Brianna began her journey as a veterinary assistant and has grown into an outstanding lead technician through hard work, dedication, and a commitment to learning. Along the way, she has continuously expanded her technical knowledge, strengthened her clinical skills, and become a trusted leader within the hospital. 

Amy shared her appreciation: 

"Always going above and beyond for her coworkers! Started out as a veterinary assistant and became one of the best Lead Technicians we could ask for! We are so thankful to have you here! Cheers to many many more!" 

Brianna's leadership, patient advocacy, and willingness to mentor others have earned the respect of both clients and teammates. Her growth serves as a reminder of what can be achieved through perseverance, curiosity, and a genuine passion for veterinary medicine.

Going the Extra Mile for a Patient in Need 

Sometimes gratitude comes from experiencing veterinary care from the client side. 

Crystal Fowler, Hospital Manager at Veterinary Healing Center, shared heartfelt thanks for the team at Sterling Pointe Veterinary Clinic after they rallied together to care for her own dog, Toby, during a medical emergency. 

When Toby unexpectedly required an emergency exploratory laparotomy, the team rearranged an already busy schedule to ensure he received the care he needed. What was expected to be a difficult procedure turned into nearly five hours of surgery, with doctors and support staff remaining late into the evening to give him the best possible chance at recovery. 

Reflecting on the experience, Crystal shared, "Because of the skill, dedication, and determination of everyone at Sterling Point, he was given the very best chance." 

Crystal expressed her appreciation for every doctor, technician, assistant, and support staff member who played a role in Toby's care, recognizing their commitment, expertise, and compassion during an incredibly emotional experience. 

Their willingness to come together during a challenging situation reflects the extraordinary care veterinary teams provide, not only to their clients and patients, but to one another as well. 

Learning New Skills and Embracing Growth 

Professional growth is one of the most rewarding parts of veterinary medicine, and Austin Deaver at South Anderson Veterinary Clinic is a great example of that journey in action.

Hospital Manager Sarah Brown recognized Austin for his continued development and enthusiasm for learning, especially after successfully performing a blood draw from the lateral saphenous vein. 

Austin has spent the last year and a half embracing new challenges, supporting teammates, and building strong relationships with both clients and patients. 

Sarah shared: 

"One thing that really stands out about Austin is his willingness to learn. He consistently asks questions, seeks feedback, and isn't afraid to step outside of his comfort zone to develop new skills." 

Whether comforting patients, assisting coworkers, or mastering new techniques, Austin consistently approaches every opportunity with positivity, determination, and a genuine desire to improve. 

Leading with Compassion 

A supportive manager can have a profound impact on an entire team. 

At Epping Road Veterinary Hospital, Technician Corynn Borelli recognized Hospital Manager Mackenzie Hayes for the kindness, empathy, and encouragement she brings to the hospital every day. 

"BIG shoutout to Mackenzie for being the most compassionate and caring manager I have ever had. She is always willing to listen or offer advice, if wanted. I appreciate you so much!" 

Corynn praised Mackenzie's commitment to both patient care and team wellbeing, highlighting her ability to prioritize compassion while creating a positive workplace culture. From offering support when it's needed most to organizing memorable celebrations during Veterinary Technician Week, Mackenzie consistently finds ways to make her team feel appreciated and supported. 

Her leadership reminds us that sometimes the greatest impact comes from simply making people feel seen, heard, and valued. 

Stepping Up and Making a Difference 

Strong leaders often make the greatest impact when they are willing to jump in and help wherever they're needed. 

Natalie Sundstrom, Chief of Staff at Best Friends Animal Clinic, recognized Ally Mayberry, Hospital Manager at Sterling Pointe Veterinary Clinic, for the tremendous support she has provided while Best Friends navigates a leadership transition. 

"Her enthusiasm, wealth of knowledge, focus and determination has been an incredible asset to our team and we are so grateful for her!" Natalie shared. 

While continuing to manage her own hospital and preparing for the opening of a brand-new clinic, Ally has also helped Best Friends improve communication, establish standard operating procedures, and create more efficient workflows. 

Natalie summed it up best when she called Ally a "rockstar," noting that her contributions have made a meaningful difference for the entire team.
