Horton Animal Hospital-Discovery

About the Role

Horton Animal Hospital Discovery in Columbia, Missouri is a growing 24-hour emergency hospital with general practice during regular business hours. Both ER and GP positions are available depending on your preference. Since opening in 2020 we have been supporting veterinarians within a radius of ~200 miles by offering referral for hospitalization specialty surgeries and emergency services. Our management team of two hospital managers and two DVM chiefs of staff are dedicated to making this hospital a place where our staff feels respected valued and supported.

 

We are seeking experienced full-time doctors (but would consider part-time positions) with strong clinical knowledge, an enthusiastic personality, excellent communication skills, and a good sense of humor. Full-time schedules are typically made up of 3 to 4 12-hour shifts per week (average 40-42 hours per week). Our veterinarians work as a team to collaborate on cases and support each other. Our team has a large and growing support staff that works hard to provide excellent care to our patients and clients. We are committed to learning constantly improving our skills and supporting each other.

 

We utilize in-house ultrasound with Oncura support to offer abdominal ultrasounds and echocardiograms. Extended training for providing these services is available for CE credits. We utilize Idexx in house and reference labs primarily, but also have quick pickup service from the University of Missouri VMDL and utilize other labs as needed. We have in-house radiography with access to radiologist review if needed. Oxygen cages an isolation room and a large surgical suite are used on a regular basis.

It is a great place to live work and plant deep family roots. There are miles of trails for biking and hiking and the Lake of the Ozarks is close by. The metro areas of Kansas City and St. Louis are only two hours away with large airports major league sports and world-class arts and entertainment events. Columbia and the surrounding areas support many colleges as well as the University of Missouri which provides a diverse academically-oriented population that values excellent care for their pets.
