Our ever-growing 11-doctor practice is looking for exceptional staff to help grow our PetVet Ohana! We seek an outstanding and responsible individual to join our team as a FULL-TIME Veterinary Technician or Assistant for our overnight shift. Our ideal candidate must be outgoing and friendly. We have a culture of continuous learning and growth, and you must desire to learn and contribute to the highest level of medicine and patient care. We are a family-oriented, full-service, multi-doctor small animal hospital striving to create an upbeat, enthusiastic working environment that is client/patient-focused.

Overnight Technician/Assistant- Primary caregivers for the pet(s) within our hospital. Record keeping and communication skills are a must. The position involves animal husbandry and janitorial tasks. Responsible for the safety, care, direct supervision, feeding, cleaning, and exercise of dogs in our facility. Must be adaptable, able to read behavioral cues, be responsible, and self-motivated. Some sort of pet care experience MANDATORY.

Physical Requirements (The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this job.):

  • Position requires the ability to walk, bend, stoop and/or work in a bent position, and reach constantly during a minimum 8-hour day.
  • Frequently use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel.
  • Use strength or agility in restraining stronger, more active animals. Frequently lift and/or move up to a minimum of 40 pounds. Occasionally handle dogs weighing up to or over 150lbs with assistance.
  • Must be willing to work long or irregular hours under fast-paced conditions and in an outdoor setting.
  • Must possess visual acuity sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people and understand written directions.
  • Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand and give information in person or over the phone.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Current and valid license as a certified veterinary technician.
  • Working knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs and veterinary terminology.
  • Working knowledge of common animal diseases and their symptoms, means of transmission, treatment, and prevention.
  • Knowledge of the instruments, materials, and standardized procedures used in all veterinary procedures. Knowledge of sterilization techniques and aseptic techniques.
  • Critical thinking. Understanding logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments. Self-motivated.

Applicants must be LVT, RVT, or CVT and enjoy working with clients and pets, have a friendly and easygoing demeanor, a positive attitude, and excellent communication skills. Individuals should be team-oriented, have a strong work ethic, initiative, sense of responsibility, and desire to excel. We pride ourselves on delivering outstanding care to all our patients, so you should enjoy educating clients and helping them take exceptional care of their pet(s). Equally important is the ability to work within and contribute to maintaining our fast-paced, upbeat, and fun work environment, as well as the desire to develop a long-term, vested interest in contributing to the growth and well-being of our organization.
