Originally founded in 1965 by Dr. Donald Gay, Sturbridge Veterinary Hospital was purchased by Dr. Martin Maketansky 30 years later. Years later, Dr. Jean Frost became a co-owner of the practice. Since then, this full-service animal hospital has been providing high quality care to companion animals in the local community.

A 1979 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Maketansky worked as a veterinarian at Sturbridge Veterinary Hospital before becoming its owner. He is particularly interested in client education. Like Dr. Maketansky, Dr. Frost is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. She has been working at the hospital since 1995.

They work alongside Drs. Lauren Fiske and Fred Johnson. Dr. Fiske graduated from Tufts University and has special interests in nutrition and preventive medicine. A native New Englander, Dr. Johnson graduated from Cornell University. He has worked at the hospital for nine years.

The doctors are supported by their longtime hospital manager, Karen Gaumond, and a hardworking team of veterinary technicians and receptionists.

Originally established in 1995, Dogwood Pet Hospital has been providing high quality care to dogs and cats in the local community for over 24 years.

An Illinois native, Dr. Andy Maxwell earned his DVM degree from the University of Illinois in 1982. In 1997, he purchased Dogwood Pet Hospital, and in 2005, he opened Dogwood Pet Resort. Dr. Maxwell has a special interest in soft-tissue and orthopedic surgery, and he is also certified to perform PennHip evaluations.

Dr. Maxwell works alongside Drs. Christine Lamont and Paul Osadjan. Like Dr. Maxwell, both doctors are also graduates of the University of Illinois. As a fear-free certified veterinarian, Dr. Lamont enjoys creating a stress-free environment for clients, and Dr. Osadjan has a special interest in pet pain management.

The doctors are supported by their hospital manager, Tina, their kennel manager, Laura, and a skilled group of veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants, pet care attendants, and receptionists who love what they do.

Dogwood Pet Hospital provides their clients with a variety of services, including wellness exams and vaccines, boarding and daycare at Dogwood Pet Resort, dentistry, surgery, and more. As a testament of their excellent service, they have won best vet clinic, best doggie daycare, and best boarding in the 2019 What Rocks Rockford awards.

We are thrilled to partner with two practices that strive to provide outstanding veterinary care to their patients, all while treating them as if they were their own. It is our pleasure to welcome Sturbridge Veterinary Hospital and Dogwood Pet Hospital to the VetCor family!
