Veterinary Services of Aiken, in Aiken, SC is seeking a doctor to complete our team, as one of our beloved doctors has retired. Our well-managed practice is led by a veterinarian with two decades of experience to guide the medicine, and a CVPM to ensure the business runs smoothly. VSOA boasts a friendly, professional, cohesive culture with several support team members who have been here for more than 10 years. We are AAHA-accredited and a member of the AAFP. We also have team members who are Fear–Free certified, and the entire team embraces those guidelines.
The magic happens in a well-equipped, 8500 square foot stand-alone building, with plans underway to renovate the existing space. Diagnostic tools include digital radiography, digital dental radiology, ultrasound and a fully equipped IDEXX in-house laboratory, including a Sedi-vue. We offer soft tissue surgery and dentistry 4 days per week, and our appointment calendar is currently full for 6 weeks, so we need the help! We have the luxury of bringing in a visiting board-certified surgeon to assist with more complicated procedures when necessary. While we are not an emergency hospital, we do our best to accommodate emergencies for our clients, even if that means stabilizing before referring to a 24-hour facility. We do not offer nursing care/monitoring overnight or on the weekends.
Veterinarians at VSOA are supported by a team of experienced veterinary technicians (including 1 LVT) who work so well together, they often complete each other’s sentences. New graduates are encouraged to apply, as are experienced doctors, and we are certain you will find our culture to be welcoming, supportive, collaborative and helpful, with a dash of fun on the side. Our doctors enjoy a 4-day work week, and we rarely leave after our posted closing time.
Named “The South’s Best Small Town,” by Southern Living magazine, Aiken is well known for its history and southern hospitality. With a charming, walkable, historic downtown, Aiken is a great place to call home. While Aiken is known primarily as an equestrian mecca (horse racing, polo, eventing, dressage, fox hunting and show jumping), if golf is your game, we’ve got you covered. Aiken has a number of championship courses, and every April is overcome with “Masters Fever,” as we are about 30 minutes from Augusta, GA. Many top PGA players spend time in Aiken prior to Masters Week to perfect their shots. Tennis and Pickleball are also extremely popular and can be played nearly year-round in our climate. Aiken is home to Hitchcock Woods, the country’s largest urban forest, which draws fox hunters, trail riders and hikers. After a long day of work or play, you are invited to pull up a chair in “Aiken’s Living Room,” the lobby of the Willcox Hotel for a beverage, a snack, and live piano music. You never know who might be seated next to you. Aiken is 60 minutes from Columbia, SC, 2.5 hours from Charleston (and area beaches), and about 3 hours from Atlanta.
We take employee wellbeing seriously and offer superior salary, medical benefits (including health, dental, and vision), 401(k), employee assistance program (EAP), CE allowance, vacation, dues, liability coverage, a family-friendly atmosphere, and more.
I would highly recommend anyone to work for a Vetcor clinic because of all the available resources they offer to their employees! These resources vary from continuing education to the importance of mental health and not burning out. Stonebridge has been one of the best places I have worked and has done nothing but help me pursue my goal of becoming an LVT.
There are programs including VetLife Days and Lend-a-Hand that allow you to spend time at other clinics. I have met some wonderful colleagues this way and have also been able to expand my leadership skills within Vetcor. I actually learned that I love teaching and supporting other veterinarians, especially new graduates. I love soft tissue surgery, so to be able to pass on that knowledge and skill set to new grads, giving them the confidence and skills they need to excel, has been very rewarding. It has been an amazing journey with Vetcor so far and I am excited to continue to be part of this amazing group.
The mentorship and advice from the Vetcor Chief of Staff Advisors have helped me become a better veterinarian and surgeon. They have filled me with confidence in order to become a better leader. Vetcor has been a great corporation to work for.
There is a career path for everybody and not a one size fits all approach.
